OVERVIEW
The Nexen Winguard Ice SUV is a touring, winter tire manufactured for SUVs.
The model promotes exceptional winter weather traction. The tire utilizes the durable winter compound and the directional tread design with the stabilized block pattern and the high siping density to increase the winter weather, ice and snow grip. The compound keeps the rubber flexibility even in freezing temperatures and prevents weather damage. The detailed tread pattern boosts the number of biting edges gripping the road surface with additional biting edges. The tread design's four wide grooves and two narrow semi-grooves, along with the lateral groove placement increase the hydroplaning resistance by dispersing water and slush from below the footprint. This further enhances winter weather driving safety levels.
The tire also upgrades its controllability, even when driving on ice- and snow-covered road surfaces. The directional tread's dual V shaped groove placement optimizes the surface contact during the drive, which helps improve the steering responsiveness and the driving stability. In this manner, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver's command, while the structure is stabilized against the driving pressure affecting the model. This tread design works together with the high-density siping placement to shorten the braking distance when driving on ice and snow. These tread elements create friction between the tread and the driving surface to enhance the braking power and improve the tire's stopping ability.
The Winguard Ice SUV improves the tread life as well. The durable compound and the tread design's 3D block center rib and stabilized shoulder block placement promote a longer usability. The tread uses wear-resistant compound elements to decrease the tread wear rate of the tire. On the other hand, the stable block placement minimizes tread flexing, which enables the tire to evenly distribute the driving pressure along the tread area. The equally spread out forces of acceleration, cornering and braking resist irregular wear formations, significantly increasing the usability and service life.
